Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (JDA) – EDM Global Tech Sdn Bhd is proud to announce the successful completion of scheduled maintenance works for the Automatic Identification System (AIS) serving the offshore facilities operated by Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn Bhd (CPOC) at Block B-17 in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (JDA).
This maintenance activity forms part of EDM Global Tech's ongoing commitment under its three-year maintenance agreement with CPOC, ensuring the continued reliability and availability of critical maritime navigation and vessel identification infrastructure supporting offshore oil and gas operations. The contract was awarded to EDM Global Tech in 2024, reinforcing the company's position as a trusted technology partner for mission-critical offshore communication and navigation systems.
The Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area is one of Southeast Asia's most strategically important offshore energy regions. Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn Bhd (CPOC) serves as the Operator under the Joint Operating Agreement between PETRONAS Carigali JDA Ltd and PTTEP International Limited (PTTEPI) for the exploration and production of petroleum resources in Block B-17 & C-19 and Block B-17-01, located in the lower Gulf of Thailand near the South China Sea. Reliable AIS infrastructure is essential to support safe vessel movements, offshore logistics, emergency response, and compliance with international maritime safety requirements.
During the maintenance campaign, EDM Global Tech's engineers carried out comprehensive preventive maintenance, system health inspections, functional verification, communication testing, and performance optimisation of the AIS equipment. These activities ensure uninterrupted operation of the offshore AIS network, enabling continuous vessel identification and enhanced situational awareness for offshore platforms operating within the JDA.
The successful completion of this maintenance demonstrates EDM Global Tech's strong technical capabilities in delivering specialised offshore maritime technology services in demanding environments.
